Dear Spinning Babies Enthusiasts,
The month of May! In the northern hemisphere, a month of flowers. In the southern hemisphere, cool weather returns. Seasons offer us regular opportunities to embrace change. We can embrace rather than brace – when we have hope!
Spinning Babies brings hope of physiological birth to parents and providers in all areas of the world. We get news from enthusiasts in big hospitals and remote areas alike. The challenge we enjoy most is figuring out how to bring the message to a variety of users. Parents, Providers and all their unique settings and ways of using the Spinning Babies approach! We love hearing how our users share the news that Spinning Babies works!

Birth Announcement

We join Amy and Colin Kelley in welcoming the newest little member of our Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator Community! Born three days after the workshop (and blizzard!) and three days after Amy led our entire group in Daily Essentials!

The Integral Touch of Birth Workshop
This May we offer advanced training to bodyworkers in the paradigm of “Physiology Before Force” through The Integral Touch of Birth Workshop (ITB). It’s magical to watch the evolution of the participants as they realize the gaps in the existing paradigm for pregnancy bodywork. We create a connection to Spinning Babies but this class takes those bodyworkers -and providers – who’ve taken Spinning Babies Workshop before and addresses the issues that our basic workshop doesn’t have the time or scope to explore.
In May’s ITB workshop, each provider learns how to attend to fetal positioning needs of pregnant people. This uniquely precise training educates bodyworkers and hands-on birth workers in the share goals of comfort, birth ease, and labor progress. (This workshop does not discuss birth care or management from the provider perspective.)
Attendees receive assessment and treatment protocols in body balancing, therapeutic massage, and fasciatherapy for pregnancy. We assume you have the basics in these areas and more knowledge of anatomy that is typical anatomy knowledge for a midwife in relation to pelvic muscles, how they move, and fascia. We do allow birthworkers to attend who want the knowledge and can adapt usage to their practices. Doulas, and all participants, agree to practice within their scope if they wish to go on to apply to be on the Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner Listing. This workshop is a step towards acceptance to be on our listing, but there is a separate application.
If you have attended one Spinning Babies Workshop you can take the Integral Touch of Birth in May (St. Paul), or November (Israel) and then take a second Spinning Babies Workshop afterwards if you want to continue on to apply for the Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner Listing on our website.
Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator Training
We’re so happy to announce the creation of our Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator branch. Our first Parent Educator training swirled out during the historic blizzard of April 2018! It was a blizzard of learning, sharing, and moving with 35 unique parent educators. Thirty-five people are now finishing their steps to certification, even as we’re figuring out the secrets to Google Drive downloading!
Upcoming Parent Educator Trainings
Find your training! Minnesota in July; Brazil in September (translated to Portuguese); Boston in October; and, pending, the UK in England in November. (This replaces the European Parent Educator training in Europe. The flight is inexpensive and quick from Europe). We’ll have more trainings in 2019, and are already set with Bastyr University in Seattle in August, 2019.
Experienced childbirth educators, certified birth doulas and prenatal yoga teachers are invited to apply for this program. To be clear, Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educators are parent educators. This is not a way to teach doulas or providers. Learn more here.

Meet Spinning Babies® Approved Trainer: Nicole Morales
Nicole Morales, LM, CPM is a mother and homebirth midwife in San Diego. She is a Spinning Babies® Approved Trainer and works with breech advocacy by helping parents navigate the challenges of breech late in pregnancy and beyond. She is a Birthing from Within Certified Mentor and leads a class called Storytelling, Healing and the Birth Worker’s Journey that dives into stories as templates for healing. She also is an instructor and alumni at the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery. Learn more about Nicole and find her upcoming workshops here.

Many of you have asked which workshop to take, or about a possibility of becoming a Spinning Babies® Approved Trainer. Please check the webpage for answers. There you’ll see a legal use of Spinning Babies guide to empower Spinning Babies enthusiasts to know how to share our work within legal and fair use guidelines.
For now, we are offering the Parent Educator and Aware Practitioner programs. Your perfect spot in Spinning Babies may be in one of these programs. Take your Spinning Babies® Workshop in preparation.
