Join experts Phyllis Klaus LMFT, LMSW and Tammy Ryan, AdvCD/BDT(DONA), SpBT for this one day workshop.
Phyllis Klaus is the developer of When Survivors Give Birth, Understanding and Healing the Effects of Early Sexual Abuse on Childbearing Women. Tammy Ryan is an authorized educator for this workshop. Join other maternity care, mental health and allied providers to focus on the issues of this sensitive topic.

Instructors: Phyllis Klaus, LMFT, LMSW is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, clinical social worker. She is a Founder of DONA International and PATTCh (Prevention and Treatment of Traumatic Childbirth) and has been involved with doula and perinatal education and research, for the past 40 years.
She has devoted much of her career to exploring the impact of early trauma on pregnant women, the effects of the maternity care system and developing methods to avoid re-traumatization during this vulnerable period. She teaches methods to facilitate the process of healing. She consults nationally and internationally and is co-author of The Amazing Newborn, Mothering the Mother, Bonding, Your Amazing Newborn; Video-The Amazing Talents of the Newborn; The Doula Book; and When Survivors Give Birth.
Tammy Ryan has been attending births since 2002. She is a birth doula trainer for DONA International, childbirth educator, midwifery assistant and one of seven trainers worldwide for Spinning Babies. Tammy has sat on the DONA International board of directors plus several boards. She started working Internationally in 2008 when she went to DR Congo to train lifesaving skills in childbirth according to the World Health Organization.
She has served in Haiti, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Korea, and Kenya. Tammy has presented childbirth information on several venues including international conferences, TV, radio, universities and to the Ministry of Health. She has been published in the quarterly International Doula and on several blogs. Tammy teaches When Survivors Give Birth as a way to help survivors and birth workers. Tammy has experienced first hand the barriers women face worldwide in getting adequate care in childbirth and postpartum. Tammy is also the Director of Sales & Education for Mama Strut.
