Spinning Babies® Workshop
This course introduces the Spinning Babies® approach to pregnancy comfort, labor progress and easier birth. Participants learn fresh solutions for long and/or posterior labor, labor dystocia and labor pain. Spinning Babies presents a new perspective on the anatomy of fetal positioning and birth, and applies stretch and jiggle techniques for body balancing. Spinning Babies® Balance, Gravity and Movement℠
After this workshop you will be able to:
- Demonstrate fetal movement of rotation and descent
- Explain how uterosacral ligaments may influence fetal position
- Design a daily pregnancy protocol (activity routine) for pregnant people to follow
- Differentiate a progressing from a non-progressing labor
- Apply a maternal position to increase each diameter of each level of the pelvis (inlet, mid, outlet).

Who may attend?
We welcome all professionals who serve people in their pregnancy and birth. Specialities may include: midwives, nurses, nurse practitioners, obstetricians, family medicine doctors, childbirth educators, doulas, prenatal yoga instructors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, myo-fascial release practitioners, perinatal case managers, and community health workers. It is recommended for people new to Spinning Babies, as well as those practiced in it for years.

Lunch Break: We will take a 60 minute break mid-day. Bring a lunch or go out with new friends.
If you are a birth professional in your final month of pregnancy you may inquire about being our class model.
Continuing Education: American College of Nurse Midwifery (ACNM) has awarded this course with 0.7 CEU credits. Doulas may use the document of attendance to obtain contact hours.
Scholarships: Spinning Babies® Approved Trainers are dedicated to improving educational access by making scholarships available for qualifying birth workers from identified communities in which birth disparities adversely affect mother and infant health outcomes. These are open to those that are actively attending births, and local to the community where the workshop is taking place. If you qualify please email TammyRyan@Spinningbabies.com to inquire about scholarship opportunities.
Cancellation Policy: Refunds available for those who are attending births when they email the trainer, TammyRyan@Spinningbabies.com before 7am the day of the workshop.
About the Trainer: Tammy Ryan, AdvCD/BDT (DONA), SpBT is an international teacher and speaker in childbirth. Tammy began her Spinning Babies exploration during her very first year as a doula in 2003. Tammy is also an active birth doula trainer whose curriculum is approved by DONA International. Tammy trains extensively and can be booked for workshops back-to-back with Spinning Babies® Workshops such as a DONA Approved Birth Doula Training or When Survivors Give Birth (Phylis Klaus and Penny Simkin’s provider training for providers of birth care serving the sexual abuse survivor in pregnancy and childbirth).
Advanced Offerings: The Spinning Babies® Workshop is required before taking any further trainings, such as Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator Training or Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner Workshop.
