Andrew Bisits – Keynote Speaker

Director of Obstetrics, Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney, Australia

Andrew Bisits is the Director of Obstetrics at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney, Australia- a tertiary academic hospital which oversees 4000 births per year. He moved there from Newcastle, 150km north of Sydney, four years ago. In Newcastle he had been the director of Obstetrics for eight years. Dr Bisits has been in full time obstetrics for 30 years this time including the training and residency positions. He has had a strong interest in breech birth since the term breech trial was first planned. In the research arena he has a strong leaning towards epidemiology and biostatistics. In the clinical arena he has participated in several initiatives to promote normal birth through helping establish primary midwifery care programs for pregnant women. Dr Bisits has a conjoint associate professorial position with the UNSW and is on the Australian board of ALSO (advanced life support in obstetrics).

Bec Jenkinson – Keynote Speaker

BEd Hons, PhD Candidate, Brisbane, Australia

Dr Bec Jenkinson is a critical friend of maternity services and has been active in maternity consumer representation and advocacy since the births of her three children (now 12, 10 and 8). Bec completed a PhD in 2017, examining women’s, midwives and obstetricians experiences of situations where pregnant women decline recommended care, and in particular processes that might enable respectful care. She then co-led the development of Queensland Health’s new guideline for clinicians partnering with women who decline recommended maternity care. She is engaged in ongoing research about respectful maternity care.

Gail Tully – Keynote Speaker

Midwife, Creator of Spinning Babies®, USA

Gail Tully is the midwife from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA who conceived and developed Spinning Babies®. Spinning Babies® went online in 2001. Over 35 years with birth including 20 years as a homebirth midwife, Gail now consults and goes out on midnight runs to long labors or breech births to help the determined parents served by her midwifery and medical colleagues. Back in the day, Gail was kept busy organizing doula program development in hospitals and community non-profits in Minneapolis/St. Paul while training doulas with DONA International approval status. Spinning Babies®, Belly Mapping®, Resolving Shoulder Dystocia, and now Breech Basics are the unique offerings from Gail Tully.

Rachel Reed – Keynote Speaker

Discipline Lead for Midwifery, University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia

Dr Rachel Reed is a Senior Lecturer and Discipline Lead in Midwifery at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. She has practised midwifery in a range of models and settings in the United Kingdom and Australia. Rachel is committed to the promotion of physiological birth, and of women’s rights (and rites) in maternity care. She is a writer and presenter, and the author of the MidwifeThinking blog site.

Rob Rich

Advanced Practitioner and Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy, Sunshine Coast, Australia

Rob Rich is an advanced practitioner and instructor of Ortho-Bionomy with 19 years of experience working with people in chronic and acute pain. He currently lives on the Sunshine Coast and teaches in various places around Australia.

Rob also has a B. Nat. Res. (UNE) and is interested in the science behind how the body self-corrects and is in the process of completing a book on that topic.

Susan Steinhardt

Chiropractor and Owner of Palmwoods Chiropractic Center, Australia

Susan Steinhardt has been a chiropractor for 10 years practicing on the sunshine coast in private practice. She graduated from the new Zealand college of chiropractic and has post-graduate studies in neurodevelopment for babies and children. She is fascinated in the development of the brain and how it develops through out all stages of life. She loves how the brain and nervous system functions and how they can impact on your health and wellbeing.

In her years of practice she has seen the role chiropractic can play and is extremely passionate about what she does.
